2008 Cookie Swap Book

FINALLY! This project is completed. I know Xmas was a while back. I wasn't going to post this but I may forget by the time 2009 comes around.......The covers are SU's Acetate Dividers cut down to 6"x6". 2008 chipboard numbers were donated from another fellow scrapbook friend. The large snowflakes used for the front & back covers? Recognize these from SU's 2008 Fall/Winter Mini Catalog? - they are the window clings. "Cookie Swap" letters are from SU's Big Shot Natural Serif Die. The Real Red background underneath the front and back acetate cover is stamped with the background dot using white craft ink.

This is a view of the dangling ribbons on the Red O-wires below. The ribbons are varied in length, width, and material. Festive Metallic Yarn was also used. There is no limit to the type of material that can be used. The Xmas light bulbs: they were taken from a garland and attached by knotting the ribbon. The final embellishment is the Scallop oval (EK Success) tag made with 2 layers of Chocolate Chip (to keep it sturdy). The dots in the Scallop are made using a Metallic Silver Pen. "Yummy" (SAB set) is embossed in white and punched with the SU Wide Oval Punch. Who knows where the snowflake stamp came from used in the background of the "Yummy".

Here's a close-up of the felt tree that has been embellished: the snowflakes are plastic from "Favorite Findings" adhered by mini glue dots. The red rhinestones are what I call: "oh so small" attached by Tombow glue and tweezers! And where did I get that felt tree? Cost Plus: 50% off and it is a garland which was taken apart - so that means there are more felt trees for more books.

This is another view of the front of the book

This is the back of the Recipe Book.

Inside the first page is an apron. The die is from Nestibilities (it is a retired die). The apron die automatically makes a slit in the apron: how perfect to insert the invitation. The invitation was shrunk to print at 75% from e-vite, folded in half, then put into the apron. The die has the holes for the apron strings - contrast green satin ribbon used. The "P" is from SU's Big Shot Naturally Serif die. Those peppermint sticks? They are cupcake toppers - yes, I was hoarding those, too (they are also several years old - who knows where I bought those). The "fun" is a metal embellishment from Making Memories - not sure if this item is still available.

Below photo is one of the pages showing the cookie and appetizer "spread" - YEEEK.........I spelled appetizer wrong! How embarrassing!

Photo below is the layout used for all the recipes in the book: a 3" deep pocket for this 6" x 6" page. Each page has a cookie photo. In the pocket is the recipe. The photo doesn't show this clearly but I wrote the cookie name right above the photo so the recipe can be properly re-filed into the pocket. Who could remember so many cookies? The photos were printed as 4"x6" size so after they are cut down to fit the pocket, leftovers were used to make several photo collages.
Below is the last page in the book. Metallic Silver journaling on one side and a photo collage on the left. There are also a scattering of metal snowflake sprinkles attached by using glue dots - where's these come from? Crate & Barrel, a few years back........they were table sprinkles that were sold from the Holidays.

Below top view of the book. There are 28 total pages with 19 recipes (but I think I missed one - can you believe THAT?) 1" Red O-wires just barely held this together. I didn't really want to go up to 1-1/2" O-wires but I may have to......sigh.
Lesson of the day: start to see what can be used as an embellishment - don't limit yourself to embellishments in a bag. Those usually cost more anyway. Make your own. For this book, I pulled out ALL my available Xmas stamps (gotta use those purchases) for the recipe pages instead of buying more scrapbook paper. Somehow, it all came together. I am very happy with the end result (except for the O-wire! I really may have to get those darn 1-1/2" ones)
I won't be lisitng the supplies today - waaaay too many..............
Thank you for stopping by today. I know a Holiday posting was not what was expected............a nice surprise? May this inspire you to plan your own swap. Love to hear your comments.
